Gunmen have kidnapped a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa,Professor Onje Gye-Wado in the earlier hours of friday . The gunmen had invaded Gwagi village in Wamba LGA, and whisked him to an unknown destination.
The sad development has been confirmed by the State Police Command. Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Ramhan Nansel confirmed it in a statement in Lafia the Nasarawa state capital.
Nansel explained that upon receipt of the information, Police operatives attached to Wamba Division swiftly moved to the scene, but the hoodlums had fled with the victim before their arrival.
He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba has mobilised and deployed reinforcement comprising Police tactical teams, military, vigilante, and local hunters to complement an ongoing search to rescue the victim and arrest the perpetrators of the act.
The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command also reassured the general public, especially the family of Prof Onje Gye-wado of their commitment to give criminals a tough time in the state.

Prof. Onje Gye-Wado served under the current National chairman of APC , Senator Abdullahi Adamu , as deputy governor between 1999 and 2003.
Onje has also served in different capacities as Dean Faculty of Law, Nasarawa state university. HOD Law Department , NIPS Kuru, commissioner Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission and others.
