Faces Of Policemen Who Reject Thousands Of Dollar Bribe.                    *IGP Commends Officers For Professionalism& Integrity.

The image of Nigeria Police has received a boost with the display of integrity and professionalism  by two of its men.                 

One of the officers, Daniel Itse Amah, a Superintendent of Police, (SP) and the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Nasarawa Division in Kano State, displayed  uncommon integrity and exhibition of sound professionalism leading to the arrest of an armed robbery syndicate.Despite being offered a bribe of 200,000 USD to look away, which he rejected.

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has equally commended Police Constable Nura Mande attached to the Katsina State Police Command who found and returned an envelope containing 800 USD belonging to an intending pilgrim, an old woman, at the Hajj Camp, Katsina.

Similarly, the IGP has commended the gallantry of Inspector Ekene Ndukwu of the Imo State Police Command who successfully laid ambush and neutralized two members of a bandit gang who stormed his house in the early hours of August 4th, 2022. The Police Inspector who was armed, surprised the bandits with heavy gunfire which repelled their attacks.

Force Spokesman, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi said the IGP has therefore directed issuance of Commendation letters to the three officers, while charging all officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to emulate the noble conduct of these exemplary members of the Force. He tasked the commended officers to continually exemplify good conduct, integrity, bravery and gallantry in the discharge of their policing responsibilies.

It was an expose indeed as operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency,NDLEA uncovered 442 parcels of methamphetamine and 1.45kg of cannabis concealed in wraps inside granulated melon, crayfish  and smoked Fish  being exported to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

The over Four Hundred parcels of Crystal Methamphetamine concealed in heads of fishes packed in cartons for export to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates was uncovered at the SAHCO shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos.

The NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said, the 11.90kg consignment was brought to the SAHCO export shed of the airport on Friday 5th August by a freight agent, Adekunle Oluwapelumi Paul, 32, from Yagba West LGA, Kogi State, who was promptly arrested upon the discovery that the seven cartons he presented for export contained parcels of the dangerous drug wrapped with foil paper and concealed in the heads of hundreds of smoked catfish.


The following day, Saturday 6th August, another consignment containing 1.45kg cannabis concealed inside granulated melon and crayfish and packed among other food condiments going to Dubai, UAE was also intercepted by NDLEA operatives who arrested the freight agent, Ajisefini Lateef that presented the cargo for export at the SAHCO shed. The 39-year-old agent is from Abeokuta West LGA, Ogun State.

Meanwhile, anti-narcotic officers at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu have arrested a 50-year-old Mgbeobuna Victor Eberechukwu for ingesting 77 pellets of cocaine. He was arrested on Saturday 6th August following his arrival from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia onboard an Ethiopian airline flight.
The suspect who hails from Idemili South LGA, Anambra state passed out the 77 wraps of the illicit drug in eight excretions spanning four days.

In Kaduna, three suspects: Saifullahi Sani, Salisu Nafi’u and Abdulrazaq Mamman, were arrested in Zaria on Thursday 11th August with One Million One Hundred and Twelve Thousand Three Hundred and Fifty (1,112,350) tablets of Tramadol (225mg and 100mg) weighing 38.3kg.

The Governor said if he had wanted to go to court over the Presidential Primaries he would have done so two weeks after the election in line with the provisions of the electoral laws.

He enjoined the PDP Presidential candidate,Atiku Abubakar to put his house in order so as not to loose in the forthcoming election. He said propaganda would further polarised the party and jeopardize PDP’s chances at the polls.    You will recall that the media had been awash with the news that Governor Wike had dragged Atiku and Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwa to court over the conduct of the PDP Presidential Primaries.

News Flash: Former IGP, Tafa Balogun Passes On.

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mustafa Adebayo Balogun has passed on. He died at the Reddington Hospital, Lekki, Lagos at about 8:30 pm on Thursday August 4, 2022.

The former IGP was said to have been ill for some time.

Balogun who was Nigeria’s 11th indigenous IGP died at 74.

Born on August 25, 1947, Balogun became IGP on March 6, 2002, and was retired on January 17, 2005.

Sanwo-Olu Warns FG: ” Dont Gag The Media”

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has frowned at attempts to gag the media in Nigeria. He expressed his displeasure on Thursday, August 5, 2022 in Lagos while declaring open a 2-day Workshop of the Nigerian Guild Of Editors, NGE.

Governor Sanwo-Olu at the workshop with the theme ” Journalism and Digitalisation: The Imperative of Good Corporate Governance ” warned that attempts to gag the media could be very costly. He was reacting to the earlier comments by the President of the Guild of Editors, Mustapha Isah who asked the Federal Government to immediately withdraw the fines and the ban imposed on Daily Trust and the BBC Media over the video documentry on terrorists.

Sanwo-Olu said he agreed with the NGE that Government cannot be “the accuser and the judge” in a case. While also calling on the Editors to embrace the practice of good governance, the Governor stressed the need for government at all levels to provide enabling environment for the media to operate.

In his opening remarks, the President of NGE, Mustapha Isah said the Guild would return “fire-for- fire” if the Federal Government refused to back down on the fines& ban imposed on the Daily Trust.

In a commando style, Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency,NDLEA busted and dismantled two major clandestine laboratories which are into large scale production of Mkpuru Mmiri, ( crystal Methamphetamine) in Lagos and Anambra states.

The Chairman of NDLEA, Retired Brig-Gen Buba Marwa said today in Lagos that a 200-man, Special Strike Force Team was deployed for the operation. The team has been in the trail of the producers for 7months.

Two barons alongside their workers were apprehended. It was discovered that the 2 laboratories, each produced at least 50kilos of Methamphetamine every week, with plans underway to increase the capacity production to 100kg per week.

So desperate,the owner of the laboratory in Lagos located at the Victoria Garden City( VCG), Chris Emeka Nzewi was producing the dangerous illicit drug in the Boy’s Quarter of a duplex which houses his family, not minding the dangers of Methamphetamine to the ecosystem. The chemicals are toxic and can contaminate boreholes, consumption of which can cause kidney and heart problems.

The second laboratory of the dangerous Mpkpuru Mmiri which has wrecked the lives of many in Eastern Nigeria, was busted at Nise Community of Awka South local government, owned by Paul Ozoemenam.

The NDLEA Chairman , while stating the determination of his team to step up offensive against the brains behind illicit drugs circulation in Nigeria urged Nigerians to be vigilant of illicit businesses in their neighbourhood and report such.

Not less than Two Million tablets of Tramadol 225mg weighing 1,650 kilograms, worth One point three billion naira have been intercepted insiďe food items which include Gari- Cassava, bitter leaf and Crayfish by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

Drugs Concealed in Crayfish sacks

NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said the seizure was made through efforts by anti-narcotic officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja who thwarted bids by drug traffickers to export various psychoactive substances to London, UK and Dubai, UAE through the Lagos airport in the past week. At least, five suspects have so far been arrested in connection to the attempts.

On Monday 25th July, a Dubai, UAE bound passenger Ebhodaghei Gloria Osenemeshen was intercepted during the outward clearance of travellers on Rwanda Air via Kigali to Dubai.
Discovered in her luggage were sachets of Tramadol 225mg concealed inside gari, a cassava product packed among other foodstuffs.
Gloria however claimed that the bag was given to her by someone whom she passed the night in his house before coming to the airport to help deliver to another person in Dubai.


The following day, Tuesday 26th July, a total of 50 blocks of cannabis sativa with a total weight of 27.1kg concealed inside large quantity of crayfish going to London, UK as part of a consolidated cargo were seized at the SAHCO export shed.
Same day, a Dubai bound female passenger, Emebradu Previous Rachael, was arrested with 1.8kg cannabis packed inside bitter leaf in her luggage while attempting to board Rwanda Air flight to UAE via Kigali.

The mother of one who hails from Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State said she was into selling of men’s wears before she decided to travel to Dubai to expand her clothing business. Rachael claimed her ex-boyfriend that lives in Dubai, requested her to bring the bag, which contains the illicit substance along with foodstuff.

In the same vein, operatives at the NAHCO import shed of the airport on Saturday 30th July evacuated cartons of khat leaf with a total weight of 51.50kg.
The consignment had earlier come in from Sierra Leone on Royal Air Moroc flight.

Increasing number of school children and youths are daily falling victims of drug abuse in Nigeria. * Get them to avoid illicit drugs like Plague. * Play up the graphical implication of drugs not prescribed by a medical Doctor. * You can also play up questions like: why do you want to be on drugs, when you’re not sick?, or why do you want to be on drugs for the rest of your life?

*Let your children know that it is preferable not to touch psychoactive substances at all, because when you touch, you want to test it, from testing, it goes on to addiction! The golden rule is: dont take, dont smell, dont touch, !

Drugs Concealed In Fetish Bowls Bound for Oman.

A 27-year-old suspected drug queen, Mujidat Opoola has been arrested for drugs concealed in fetish bowls, containing scary native black soap and sponge on two Oman-bound male passengers at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

The passengers, Raji Babatunde Kazeem and Akinbobola Omoniyi were travelling together to Oman, Middle East on Ethiopian Airlines flight on Monday July 11 2022, when they were intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the airport.

NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi,confirmed that a search of their luggage revealed wraps of cannabis sativa hidden in bowls of native black soap and sponge packed into a bag containing food items, which Kazeem was carrying.
Both Kazeem and Omoniyi immediately alerted the anti-narcotic officers that Mujidat who was still within the vicinity gave the bag containing the illicit substance to them at the airport.

She was promptly arrested.The suspect accepted responsibility and stated that she brought the luggage for the two passengers to give to her husband in Oman.

Mujidat, who hails from Oyo East LGA in Oyo State, confessed during preliminary interview that the bag containing the food items were packed by her with different items, including the black soap used to conceal the illicit substance.

Also in Nasarawa state, NDLEA operatives have intercepted over 91 jumbo bags of cannabis, weighing 1,029.5kg concealed in a truck mounted natural gas tank by
Doma road, around 500 Housing Estate, Lafia. A 52-year-old suspect, Ernest Ojieh, was arrested in connection with the seizure on Saturday 9th July.
This was barely four days after operatives at Agwan Doka, Lafia, seized 38 big bags of the same substance with a total weight of 367kg. Two suspects: Abdullahi Iliyasu, 30, and Bashir Mohammed, 29 were arrested over the seizure.
