Legendary American born singer, songwriter dancer, and actress, Anna Mae Bullock popularly known as Tina Turner is dead.
Tina Turner the Queen of Rock and Roll as often called died at the age of 83. She was born November 26th 1939 in Tennessee, United States.
The death of the renowned singer was made public Wednesday May 24th, 2023 in a statement issued by her family saying she died peacefully in Switzerland following a prolonged illness.
Turner was reported to have suffered a stroke in 2013 and later intestinal cancer.
She began her career in music in 1957 as a background singer for her husband Ike Turner and his band “Kings of Rhythm” in St. Louis; under the name “Little Ann” and she appeared on her first record “Boxtop” in 1958.
The “What’s Love Got To Do With It” singer later rose to fame as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before launching a successful career as a solo performer;
after she got separated from her husband in 1978.
Her debut solo album Private Dancer won three Grammys; selling over twenty million copies worldwide.
