Civil Society Groups Protest At NNPC.

Civil Society Groups on Thursday embarked on massive protest at Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC headquarters over environmental degredation.

The Civil Society Groups want the incoming administration and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to withdraw licenses of erring multinational companies found guilty of environmental degradation.


the protest is coming a day after the groups held discussions on environmental challenges such as loss of livelihood, poverty and degradation.


As part of the resolution at the meeting, the group visited the NNPC headquarters with a protest letter to demand that International financial institutions including african development bank, the world bank and export credit agencies, discontinue financing fossil fuel projects in nigeria.


An official of NNPC who received the protesters, promised to deliver their message to the appropriate authorities.
the group believe transiting to renewable energy is the ultimate direction the country should take to safeguard lives and properties.
