Men of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have rescued 58 kidnapped victims held hostage during a raid that left one person dead at Udulu forest in Gegu area of KOGI state bordering the Sardauna Forest in Nasarawa State, and other identified kidnappers den in communities contiguous to the FCT.
In a statement by the FCT Police Spokesperson ,Josephine Adeh,the bandits and the Kidnappers were said to have on sighting the anti kidnapping operation team coordinated by the Police, engaged the team in a gun duel where the bandits were overpowered and escaped with various degrees of bullet injuries leaving behind their victims.
The rescue was part of efforts by the Command leadership, in a sustained joint operation with other security agencies, vigilantes and hunters from the various local communities, to combat violent crimes in the FCT and rescue victims and bring perpetrators to book.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Police Command, Haruna Garba said while effort is being sustained to prevent any further threats to safety and security of residents, the Command would not relent in ensuring the rescue of any resident held hostage by criminals, and as well bring the perpetrators to book.
