Police Service Commision & Alleged 10,000 dollar Promotion Bribe Scandal !

The Police Service Commission has urged anyone with evidence of information on alleged bribery for promotions in the Police Force involving the Commission to urgently turn it in.

This is just as the Commission has set up an investigation panel comprising its staff and that of the Police Force to look into alleged payments of 10,000 dollars by some Police Officers to get accelerated promotions.

A statement by the Commission’s Spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani on Thursday said the attention of the Commission has been drawn to an online story in which aggrieved Officers in a statement by one Mr. Chijioke Okonkwo (no rank indicated) on behalf of other Officers “urged the Presidency to probe the corrupt practices in the Police Force.”

The Commission stated that it does not sell promotions in the Nigeria Police Force and will not start now when a deliberate effort was being made to reposition and reinvigorate the Nigeria Police Force, especially with the assumption of duty of Dr. Solomon Arase as Chairman of the Commission.

The Commission vowed that any one however found culpable will be dealt with in line with the laws of the land, adding that it would not also tolerate any frivolous and fictitious claims.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr.Solomon Arase while assuring members of the public of his administration’s readiness to sanitize the system, has urged Staff of the Commission to live above board at all times in the discharge of their responsibilities as bribery and corruption of any kind will not be tolerated under his watch.
