WHO- 77% Nigerian Ladies On Bleaching Creams On Danger List Of Kidney& Skin Cancer Problems..NAFDAC Calls For Urgent Sensitisation.

The National agency for food and drugs administration and control, NAFDAC has expressed worries over the increasing number of Nigerian Women falling victim of skin cancer and kidney diseases over the use of bleaching creams.

According to the world health organisation wHO, the use of bleaching creams were prevalent among seventy seven percent of Nigerian women which was the highest in Africa.

The Director General NAFDAC,Professor Moji Adeyeye during a south South media sensitisation workshop on the dangers of bleaching creams and regulatory control in Port Harcourt,Rivers State said the rate at which some Nigerians used bleaching creams were alarming and the health implications worrisome.

It was against this backdrop that the National agency for food and drugs administration and control NAFDAC embarked on media sensitisation campaigns on the need to stop the use of bleaching creams due to the negative effects they pose on humans health.

While warning against the use of bleaching creams, NAFDAC promised to intensify efforts towards eradicating the harmful effects of bleaching creams by clampping down on the manufacturers under the regulatory act
