Breaking.. NLC To Suspend Nationwide Strike?

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has met with CBN Governor Godwin Emiefele and the Nigeria Labour Congress President,(NLC) Joe Ajaero, in an effort to avert Nationwide strike billed to begin on Wednesday, over naira and fuel scarcity.

After the tripartite meeting, the NLC President, Joe Ajaero said Labour was satisfied that CBN has started pumping money to  deposit banks for a smooth cash flow.

Ajaero said they “no longer envisage any problem, since CBN has started sending cash to the banks and Nigerians were now accessing their money”. He acknowledged that the meetings have taken place in the spirit of good dialogue.

On his part, the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele said when he received the letter from the Labour Ministry, he called the President of NLC to brief him on steps taken to alleviate the sufferings of the masses and equally made appointment and had discussion with NLC president.

The NLC had a ten man delegation and the CBN Governor was accompanied by two Deputy Governors, Kingsley Obiora, Economic Policy, and Ade Shonubi Organised Private Sector.

The NLC had threatened to embark on the nationwide industrial action, if the cash crunch, fuel scarcity and electricity tariff increases were not addressed.
