Ahead of the Saturday, March 18 governorship and state Houses of Assembly election, Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba, has ordered the restriction of movement from 12 am to 6 pm on election day in all states where election is taking place. In a statement on Thursday evening by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi in Abuja, only personnel on essential services and related services are exempted.
The IGP also reiterated the ban on all security aides to VIPs and escorts from accompanying their principals and politicians to polling booths and collation centres during the election.
The Inspector General of Police, therefore, urged all citizens to be law abiding during and after the elections even as he assured that all necessary security arrangements have been put in place to ensure they exercise their franchise unhindered.
