Staff of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF have crippled activities at the agency’s head office in Abuja and in all branches in the thirty six states of the federation over Salary adjustment delay.
The workers, under the umbrella of Association of Senior staff of Banks, insurance and Financial institutions, ASSBIFI , and the National Union of Banks, insurance and financial institutions, stormed the NSITF offices as early as 8am on Friday, chanting solidarity songs.
It was gathered that both ASSBIFI, an affiliate of the trade union congress and NUBIFI, an affiliate of Nigeria Labour Congress, have had several meetings with the NSITF Management and its parent ministry, the ministry of Labour and Employment, without any headway.
The protesting workers complained bitterly of the non-implementation of the new salary adjustment and review which was to take off in January 2023, but the management had continued to shift the implementation date.
