The Cocaine Deal allegedly involving the suspended  Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari has landed him and four others in Prison. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered that Kyari be remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility in Abuja.

Ruling on the bail application  ,Justice Emeka Nwite held that Abbah Kyari medical challenges is not beyond the capacity of the NDLEA as he is a flight risk.     The court therefore transferred Abbah Kyari and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sunday Ubua to Kuje correctional center .

While the two defendants that pleaded guilty to the offence were transferred to Suleja correctional center. The Judge then fixed 28th of April for ruling in review of facts of their case .The implication of this is that Kyari and others would be remanded for a month at the Correctional Centres pending when their case will come up again for hearing.

Kyari, alongside four other police officers- ACP Sunday Ubia, ASP Bawa James, Insp. Simon Agirigba and Insp. John Nuhu, as well as two others Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne, are facing  8 counts charge which include conspiracy, obstruction, dealing in hard drugs, and tampering with same, they pleaded not guilty to the charge.

But two of Kyari’s co-defendants, Chibuna Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwanne, who are non-police officers, pleaded guilty to the charge.

When the trial commenced the NDLEA in its counter affidavits to Kyari’s bail application argued that it was inappropriate to grant bail to the applicant due to the nature of the offence besides he is facing extradition on charges of wire fraud. Recall that Kyari’s wife,Ramatu had slumped at the last trial when the court declined to grant the husband bail.
