More heads to roll as the last has not been heard in the DCP Abba Kyari’s infamous drug dealings. Officers who were dealing officially with the suspended Kyari are to face the music. The indication to this effect came from the Police Service Commision which has oversight functions over discipline and promotions in the Nigeria Police Force. This came just as the Police Force also revealed that some officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency are culpable.
Commissioner representing the South-South zone and the Media in the Commission, Austin Adogime Braimoh in an interview with Action Now Against Drug Abuse on Wednesday February 16,2022 described the action of Police Officers who reported the Drug Case at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu to Abba Kyari while on suspension as gross indiscipline, especially when the Intelligence Response Team has a new Coordinator. ” They were acting on their own and not on behalf of the Police Force. Am sure appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against the breach of administrative protocols.Investigations would reveal all the officers involved” Braimoh submitted.

Beyond this, the Force Spokesperson, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement said the Police investigation also established that the international narcotics cartel involved in the drug case have strong ties with some officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu who are on their pay roll.
The two arrested drug couriers confirmed that the modus is for the transnational drug barons to conspire with the NDLEA officers on duty and send them their pre-boarding photographs for identification, seamless clearance, and unhindered passage out of the airport with the narcotics being trafficked.

Adejobi said the two arrested drug couriers also confirmed that they have been enjoying this with the NDLEA officers at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport since 2021 and had in this instant case of 19th January, 2022, been identified and cleared by the NDLEA officers as customary, having received their pre-departure photographs and other details prior to their arrival in Enugu, and were on their way out with the narcotics when they were apprehended by the Police.
