2 Female Undergraduates Face Rustication Over Drug Abuse

Two female part one students of Edo State Polytechnic, Babalola Modupe Angel and Esekhagbe Sonia are now in the net of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) over drug abuse.

Modupe , 19 years old and Sonia, 20 years were arrested following a surveillance on Thursday 23rd September, with 21 wraps of skunk, Feelers from Edo Polytechnic have it that the two erring students have been penciled for rustication to serve as a deterrence to the others.

Their arrest came on the heels of pleas from Student Union Leaders to NDLEA to conduct drug tests on Tertiary Institution students as a way of curbing the alarming drug abuse in the nation’s school campuses.

In a related event, another lady, Chioma Okocha, 25, was arrested the following day Friday 24th Sept when she tried to deliver 200grams of Crack Cocaine to a customer at an eatery in Benin City, Edo State. Earlier same day, men of the Irrua Area Command of the Agency working on actionable intelligence evacuated 10 bags of cannabis sativa weighing 135kg in Amahor bush in Igueben area of Benin. The exhibits were stored ready for transportation to other parts of the country.

In the same vein, men of the Okada Area Command in the early hours of Sunday 26th Sept evacuated 2,937 kilograms of cannabis sativa from Utese forest in Ovia North East local government area of Edo state.

The Spokesman of NDLEA, Femi Babafemi said the routine drug raids would be sustained as a major strategy in the war against drug abuse and trafficking.

  1. I don’t know why ds young ladies allowed devil to work, they are too young, but am very sure that students should learn from this ladies and stop drugs instead.

    Some parents are to be blame.
    “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is grown, he will not depart from it”

    And once you spare a rod, you have already spoiled the child.

  3. This is pathetic, the students need to be rehabilitated even if they are rusticated. Parents also should double their efforts at monitoring who their children move or hang out with.
    May God help this generation.
