A 20-year old graduate, miss Bee Okoro has been arrested in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) for producing and selling drugged candies and cookies. Also arrested with her ,was a 27-year old Dispatch Rider, Idewo Raimi who handles door-to door delivery for Miss Okoro.

The suspects were arrested following a tip-off and after days of intelligence survey of their activities by men of the NDLEA. They were eventually, arrested on Friday, September 10,2021 at Garki Area 11 varieties of drugged cookies and candies , Also found on them was 400grams of Loud and Arizona. They confessed they have been in the business for over a year.

This is coming on the heels of the arrest of a 22-year-old youth corps member, Arnold Maniru who was arrested in the same Abuja on Saturday August 28,2021 for importing 4kilograms of drugged candies from the United Kingdom.

Similarly a female undergraduate, Rhoda Agboje was arrested alonside her boyfriend, Ifeanyin Nwankwo earlier in the year in Abuja in April over drugged cookies. They have been in the business of selling cookies laced with psychoactive substance to unsuspecting members of the public.
Mental Health Experts have described this as a dangerous trend capable of affecting the health of scores of youth as well as derailing their careers.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of NDLEA, Retired Brg-Gen Buba Marwa has called on parents, guardians and teachers to be more vigilant of snacks in the possession of their children and wards. He warned that there are no sacred cows in the books of the Agency, as suspects and culpable individuals would be made to face the wrath of the Law,
